Productive transfer portal class for Ole Miss Football placed them in the first place. The Rebels have reinforced the defensive side of the ball with some of the best players attracted from the transfer portal.
Two of the defensive players of Ole Miss have been acknowledged as major transfers for Lane Kiffin's program. Defensive tackles Walter Nolen and defensive end Princely Umanmielen were a part of the PFF All-Transfer Portal team of 2024.
Wide receivers Nolen and Umanmielen were named with defensive linemen Purdue transfer Nic Scourton and Duke transfer Aeneas Peebles, the two transfers of Texas A&M and Virginia Tech.
Both Walter Nolen and Princely Umanmielen were both ranked in the top 12 players in the transfer portal by On3, Nolen coming in at number two ranking.
Humanmien moved from Florida, spending four years with the Gators. With his team in that time, he gathered 98 tackles, 15 sacks and three forced fumbles. A native of Texas was recently selected to the second team All-SEC coaches squad last year.
Defensive tackle Walter Nolen transfered in from Texas A&M, and was one of the top players from the transfer portal. Kiffin’s got a big get in Shedrick Jackson, a 5-star Class of 2022 recruit. In his two Aggies seasons Nolen had 66 tackles, five sacks and one forced fumble.
Both sides of the defensive line are going to be a hard nut to crack for opposing offensive lines in the 2024 season. Their are two of numerous explanations why Ole Miss are one of the top picks to make the College Football Playoffs next year.
