Notre Dame Football’s 2024 season
Do not pinch me, for this can’t be true that the middle of July is here already and SEC Media Days begin on Thursday. Well that can mean only one thing, much to my delight, college football is almost here. For KEntucky Wildcats and the other teams of the SEC, it is anew day because of entry of Oklahoma and the Texas. What that means is an already rigorous conference schedule becomes even more challenging. UK hoped to counter-act that by scheduling much more winnable non-conference opponents. Today we’re going to look at Kentucky’s 2024 schedule and rate every team that the Wildcats will be playing 12-1.

Listing Them From The Least to The Hardest
Games Kentucky Should Win
12. Murray State- November 16th- This will be the third time the Cats and Racers will face off. Thus, it is not surprising that UK has triumphed in both meetings that they have played before. The Wildcats have defeated the team 37-6 in 2003 and physically overwhelmed them 48-10 in 2018. This is that game where you wish to set most of your first-team players on the bench as you prepare for two massive encounters at year’s end.
11. Southern Mississippi – August 31st – There is a small history relating to the match-up. Kentucky’s original schedule for the season was Akron on the road or at least that was the plan. However, UK swapped the game with Ohio State in which the Golden Eagles were to be playing. Akron is now on the list of OSU and is scheduled to be played next. Southern Miss went 3-9 last year and that should prepare the Cats to get off to a good start with a win.
10. Vanderbilt- October 12th- In three years in Nashville Clark Lea has compiled a record of 9-27 and can probably be considered to be on the proverbial “hot seat So however let’s not forget that two years ago, Vanderbilt came to the Wildcat stadium and defeated Kentucky in what was one of Stoops worst defeats. Lighting will not hit twice here.
9. Ohio – September 21st– The Cats end four home games in the first month of the year, 2024, host the Bobcats. Tim Albin’s team was 10-3 winning the Myrtle Beach Bowl against Georgia Southern. It may be noted that true freshman Rickey Hunt scored five total touchdowns in the game. UK is 4-2 all-time against the Bobcats and the games have always been competitive. Although the case of Sameer’s family should be expected to be different, this should be no exception.
The ranking of Kentucky’s 2024 opponents become even more difficult as we move further down the list.
Still Winnable, But Tougher
The following are some reasons why the Jays’ fan was a frustrated man Not too long ago, we pointed out that four games in particular had to be victories for the Cats to consider themselves successful. Ironically, that is the next schedule.
8. At Florida- October 19th- Newcomer Billy Napier is the epitome of the coaches who are in scalding hot water. Avakian needs the team to perform big to remain employed as the head of the team. On the other side of the ball Kentucky’s trying for something that hasn’t been accomplished in 70 years, to beat Florida four straight. Further loss to the Cats would definitely put Napier on the hot seat.
7. Auburn- October 26th- The Wildcats haven’t beaten the Tigers in their own stadium since the year 2005 with only a road victory in the year 2009. Taking it a notch higher, the last time that the UK beat the UofL in the latter’s backyard in Lexington was in 1966. They have been runners-up in both the years of 2010 and 2015 but lacked the spice to cross the finish line. Stoops and the Cats have to do it this year they have to step it up and win this year.
6. South Carolina-September 7th- The Wildcats dominated the gamecocks 7 out of 8 from the period 2014-2021. However, since then Shane Beamer’s club has rolled off two straight and in the process given out a lot of lip. Indeed, if the Cats are to desire a fruitful 2024, then this one has to be a definite victory.
5. Louisville- November 30th- Honestly the last time that Louisville Cards managed to beat Kentucky Wildcats was in nov 2017. Of course, in the COVID year of 2020, the schools didn’t play. Exactly a year ago the Cards’ opponent was Kentucky, which was defeated by it at its stadium while being an underdog. Louisville’s on the rise with Jeff Brohm as its new head coach but the Cats need to, the cup has to stay in Lexington.
And will not cease until we get to the number 1 and that is what we will do as we complete the ranking of Kentucky’s 2024 opponents.
Looking To Breakthrough
4. At Tennessee- November 2nd- Even with all the Kentucky success in the SEC now the Cats haven’t won at Tennessee. UT played the most games against the Cats and they did not lose to them from 1985 until the wherein they lost to the Cats 26 2010 straight and also five from the last seven. This one is somewhat a tough nut to crack following the Cats winning in Knoxville in the year 2020.
The three other teams ranked after the Samsung team all share a similar feature. Last Word has each as a College Football Playoff team.
3. At Ole Miss- September 28th- The first away game of the year for the Cats shall be done at noon. Guided by a senior QB Jaxson Dart and the nation’s best class from the transfer portal Lane Kiffin’s team has sights set on SEC championship. The Wildcats two years ago snapped at the heels of the rebels and would relish the chance this year.
2. Texas- November 23rd- Senior year finale with the SEC match-up, new for the Cats this time- facing one of the two new schools. UK and Texas have only played each other once and that was in 1951 and the Longhorns narrowly edged the Wildcats 7-6. Texan Steve Sarkisin’s team has the potential to become a national champion for the season thanks to the new QB Quinn Ewers. Kentucky would love to be the one to crush such dreams.
1. Georgia- September 14th- The new Wildcat quarterback the team is grooming is Brock Vandagriff, and he will be playing against his former team in this game. UK has not triumphed over the Bulldogs since season 2008/2009 season and most of the battles have been rather one sided. Kirby Smart’s team is again a national title contender and UK would really like to spoil it for them.
